Over Lea
Animals have always been a huge part of my life. I got my first cat, Sissy, when I was eight years old, and she stayed by my side for almost 20 wonderful years. She taught me what unconditional love, patience, and responsibility truly mean. When she crossed the rainbow bridge in 2022, I had spent almost my entire life caring for a cat through every stage of life—from a playful kitten to a senior with special needs.
When I moved to Crete in 2022, my passion for animals only grew stronger. I fostered cats, volunteered at the local animal shelter, and helped care for cats waiting for their forever homes.
After moving to Haarlem with my fiancé, one thing became very clear: a home simply isn't complete without four paws. Two years ago, Mila, our Snow Lynx Bengal, joined our family. She's energetic, curious, and a little diva—the complete opposite of my calm childhood cat. Living with both of them taught me that every pet is unique, and that's exactly how I approach pet sitting.
I never expect every cat or dog to behave the same. Some cats want endless cuddles, others want to chase toys for an hour, while shy cats simply need someone who respects their space. I always follow their personality and routine so they feel safe and comfortable while you're away.
Before every booking, we'll go through everything together in detail. We'll discuss feeding times, treats, medication (if needed), favourite toys, sleeping habits, walking routines, emergency contacts, and any special requests you have. I want to make sure your pet's routine stays as normal as possible.
For cat visits, I don't just stop by to refill food and water. I usually stay 30–60 minutes, depending on your booking and your cat's needs. That gives us time to play, cuddle, groom, keep them company, clean the litter box, or simply sit quietly together if they're shy.
For dogs, I usually offer 30 to 60-minute walks, depending on their age, energy level, and your preferences. Whether it's an energetic walk with plenty of sniffing and playtime or a slow stroll for an older dog, I'll adapt every walk to what your dog enjoys most.
Having cared for my senior cat, Sissy, I'm comfortable looking after older pets and can give oral medication or follow special care routines as long as I receive clear instructions beforehand.
Communication is incredibly important to me. I'll send regular updates with photos and messages after every visit so you always know how your pet is doing. If you have questions while you're away, I'm always happy to answer them.
If an emergency ever occurs, your pet's safety will always come first. I'll contact you immediately, follow the emergency plan we've agreed on, and, if necessary, take your pet to your preferred veterinarian or the nearest emergency clinic.
I know how much trust it takes to leave your beloved companion in someone else's care. That's why I'll treat every pet as if they were my own—with patience, kindness, respect, and lots of love.
