Hello there!! I’m Azul. 😊

I’ve always been a huge animal lover. For many years, my best friend was Elvis, my beautiful dachshund. Losing him was incredibly hard, and I needed some time before I felt ready to have dogs around me again. Now I finally feel ready to share all that love and care with other furry friends.

I’m a barista at a lovely café and live a cozy, quiet life in Diemen with my partner Michele, who loves animals just as much as I do. 

I have more than 4 years of experience caring for pets in Amsterdam. I currently offer house sitting and doggy day care at the owner’s home, so your dog can stay in their own familiar environment while receiving plenty of company, attention and care. ❤️

I’m most comfortable with small to medium-sized dogs, although larger dogs are absolutely something we can discuss depending on their personality, energy level and needs.

My availability

I work five days a week, usually from 8:30 to 17:00, with some shorter days when I finish around 15:00. My workplace is only 7 minutes from my home in Diemen, so for bookings nearby I can usually be quite flexible.

On my shorter workdays, I have the whole afternoon and evening available, and I also have two full days off every week when I can dedicate much more time to your dog. 

For doggy day care, we can discuss the hours you need and see whether they fit with my schedule.

For house sitting, because I work outside the home, it’s important that your dog is comfortable being left alone for a few hours on my working days. Please let me know how long they are normally comfortable on their own and whether they experience separation anxiety, excessive barking or destructive behaviour when left alone.

Getting to know your dog

Before confirming a booking, it’s really important for me to understand your dog’s personality and everyday routine. One of the things I love about caring for dogs in their own home is that they can keep their familiar environment and routine while their owners are away.

I’d love to know about their personality and energy level, how they behave with people and other dogs, their feeding and toilet routine, how many walks they normally have, how long they’re comfortable being left alone, where and how they sleep, and whether they have any allergies, medication, medical conditions, fears, triggers, reactivity or special habits.

Please also be completely open with me about things like separation anxiety, excessive barking, aggression, reactivity or destructive behaviour. There’s absolutely no judgement! I simply need to know beforehand so I can make sure I’m genuinely a good fit for your dog and their needs. 

For longer house-sitting stays, I prefer having a short meet & greet beforehand whenever possible. It gives your dog a chance to meet me in their own environment and gives you the opportunity to show me their routine, where everything is and anything else I should know.

Start & end times 🕐

For both house sitting and doggy day care, it’s important that we agree on approximate start and end times beforehand so I can organise my schedule properly.

For overnight house sitting, please let me know approximately what time you would like me to arrive on the first day and until what time you would need me to stay on the final day.

For example, if a booking starts early in the morning on the first day and finishes late in the evening on the final day, this can represent significantly more care than the number of nights shown in the booking. For this reason, I always appreciate having the times clearly agreed before confirming. 

During the stay 🧸

Since your dog will be staying in their own home, please make sure their usual food, leash/harness, medication and anything else they regularly need are available.

For longer stays, I’ll also ask for your veterinarian’s details and an emergency contact, just in case.
