Hello! My name is Ilana, and I moved from California to Amsterdam in 2019 with my husband Aaron and senior dog Ginger. We love living here and have made so many friends -- both human and dog ;) -- over the years at Sarphatipark. 

After living the fullest and best life a rescue dog can have, last year Ginger passed away from old age. We've taken some time to grieve, and now we are feeling ready to welcome new dogs in our home before we adopt again soon.

About us: Aaron and I absolutely love dogs. Both of us grew up with family dogs and began volunteer work with rescue organizations in San Francisco after grad school. For nine years before moving to Amsterdam we did everything from dog walking, adoptions, admin, and, much to Ginger's dismay, fostering 20+ dogs in our home. We have experience with all breeds and sizes, but I do prefer dogs that are 15 kg or smaller. My schedule is extremely flexible at the moment, which means I have lots of time to hang out with your dog.

About our home: We own our apartment which is on the third and fourth floors of our building. Therefore we need your dog to be good with all kinds of stairs. (See photos for reference.) Our building does not have the best sound insulation, so we cannot look after dogs who are very vocal. We have an enclosed roof terrace so your dog is welcome to enjoy the sun with us, and, of course, we will never leave them outside unattended. We also require that your dog is fully housetrained.

What we offer: I'm happy to do daytime care at your place or ours, overnight care at our apartment, and dog walking. (If your dog loves a good long dog walk, your dog will love me!) I know how difficult it is to trust someone to look after your pet, but I promise to give your dog all the love and attention it needs to feel comfortable with us. We will only look after one dog at a time to make sure we're giving the best kind of care.
