Hi there! I'm Katja, a 27-year-old German-American living here in The Netherlands. I moved to Amsterdam back in 2020, and have been here ever since! I studied my masters degree in communications at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and graduated in 2022. For as long as I can remember, I have been a dog/animal lover. as a child, it was always my dream to become a veterinarian. Although life has taken me down a different path, I still find ways to spend time with animals in my daily life by pet sitting multiple dogs in the area, and volunteering at my local animal shelter in the dog department once a week. At the shelter, I clean kennels, walk and socialize dogs, and take courses about dog behavior from certified specialists. I have grown up around dogs my whole life, and when the day comes, I will certainly adopt one of my own! For now, I'm enjoying walking and pet sitting for dogs of all shapes, sizes, breeds and needs - Ankitas, Border Collies, Alaskan shepherds, you name it! 

In terms of my specific services, I'm very accommodating to each dog's individual needs. I've worked with more active breeds who require multiple hour-long walks per day, and also senior dogs or dogs with behavioral issues who only need 15-minute walk intervals. I can also walk as many times as needed per day, I have some dogs that I pet sit who require 4 walks per day, and I'm happy to provide! Whatever your dog needs, no matter how long or short the walk, I'm happy to accommodate; just let me know your pet's specific needs. 

As someone who works regularly with shelter dogs, I also have taken multiple courses on how to train, socialize and handle dogs with behavioral issues. I can teach puppies basic training and can also handle more sensitive/nervous dogs. 

At the moment, I don't have many other responsibilities as I'm taking a break from my full-time job, so I have plenty of availability! While I'm pet sitting, I am very attentive and give my utmost care and attention to the pet I'm watching.
