Hi! I’m Mieke.

I grew up with dogs, so having one around has always felt like home. Over the years I’ve also done quite a bit of dog sitting, from energetic puppies to older dogs who just enjoy a slow walk and some company. I’ve looked after dogs with different personalities and routines, and I always enjoy getting to know them.

I work at a university, but spend most of my working time at home, which means I have plenty of time to give your dog company and attention throughout the day. Outside of work, I love being outdoors, going for walks and doing yoga.

I live with my partner and our cat, Mia, in our own apartment in Amsterdam West, between Vondelpark and Rembrandtpark. This means there are plenty of green spaces nearby for walks. We don’t have a garden, balcony or rooftop terrace, but dogs are welcome throughout our home and can sleep wherever they feel most comfortable, depending on what they are used to at home. As Mia lives with us, dogs staying overnight do need to be comfortable around cats.

I offer both dog walking and overnight stays and only take care of one dog at a time, so I can give them plenty of individual attention. For dogs staying with me, I usually go out 3–4 times a day, including one longer walk. Walks are generally around 30–60 minutes, or longer if your dog enjoys it. I’m happy to adapt the length, pace and number of walks to their age, energy level and normal routine.

As I mostly work from home, dogs staying with me won’t be left alone for long periods. I can make sure they are never left alone for more than three hours at a time. I’m also happy to administer oral medication if needed, as long as you provide clear instructions.

I’d love to have a dog of my own again someday, but until then I’d be very happy to borrow yours for walks, playtime and lots of attention.
