Hi! I'm Missy, 33 years old, originally from South Africa and living in the Rivierenbuurt in Amsterdam.

I'm a freelance designer, which means I have a lot of flexibility during the week. Since I can't have a dog of my own right now, I'd love to spend time with yours instead.

I've had dogs all my life from Schnauzers, Dachshunds, Weimaraners, Dalmatians, French Bulldogs, and most recently my German Pointer, who was the love of my life. Sadly she stayed with my ex after our breakup, and I still miss having a dog around every day.

To be completely honest, one of my favourite things to do these days is wake up early, grab a coffee and head to Sarphatipark to do some dog spotting. That's probably a good indication of how much I miss having a four-legged companion around!

I love long walks, cosy evenings on the sofa, and having a dog join me throughout the day. If your dog stays with me, they'll get lots of attention, affection and exercise.

A few practical things:

• I am available from Monday afternoon until Thursday evening, and on Friday afternoons and weekends.

• I work flexibly from home, but your dog should be comfortable being alone for up to 1–1.5 hours occasionally while I go to the supermarket, gym or run errands.

• I live with two lovely housemates who are also dog lovers, so it's important that your dog is comfortable around other people.

• Because I live on the third floor, dogs should be able to manage stairs comfortably.

• Small and medium-sized dogs are usually the best fit for me. I'm quite petite myself, so I prefer dogs that I can safely and confidently handle on walks.

• Friendly dogs are a big plus. I enjoy walking in parks and green spaces where we regularly come across other dogs.

• I'm happy to follow your dog's usual routine, feeding schedule and training methods. I use positive reinforcement and will always respect your preferences.

• I'm comfortable giving medication if needed.

• Dogs are welcome to stay overnight.

• I love taking photos and can send as many updates as you'd like.

• Drop-off at my home is preferred, but if you live nearby we can discuss pick-up and drop-off.

My home is probably not the best match for very reactive dogs, dogs that bark excessively indoors, or dogs that are much stronger than I am.
