"For the busy people who only read the TLDR: book Afonso. Don’t overthink it. Just do it. You’ll thank me later.
Now, here’s why.
I’ll admit it, I was one of those pet parents. The idea of leaving our precious orange tabby (who firmly believes he owns us) and our home in the hands of someone we’d never met made me… let’s say “slightly” anxious.
Then we met Afonso.
Within minutes, we both felt completely at ease. More importantly, our self-proclaimed “unsittable cat” (10 years old, gloriously fussy, and orange in every stereotypical way possible) gave Afonso the ultimate seal of approval: the sacred lick of acceptance. If you know cats, you know that’s basically a royal knighthood.
Throughout every visit, Afonso didn’t just tick the obvious boxes - food, fresh water, clean litter, updates. He genuinely took the time to make Gingy feel comfortable and respected his pace. That’s no small feat.
To put things into perspective, Gingy has a lot of bizarre rituals. You know those TikTok videos that say, “Good luck explaining this to the cat sitter”? We could probably make a whole series. Somehow, Afonso understood every one of them and handled them like he’d known Gingy for years.
The updates and photos gave us complete peace of mind while we were away, and we came home to one very happy cat and a spotless home.
Would we book Afonso again?
In a heartbeat. Unless Gingy beats us to it and hires him permanently.
I think that’s about the highest compliment a cat (and his human staff) can give."
