Hi there! I'm Lulu, I’m an expat from Los Angeles and moved here a few years ago to be with my Dutch husband, Andreas. We live close by Het Scheepvaartmuseum (Maritime Ship Museum) in a ground floor apartment, so no crazy Amsterdam stairs 😆. I just started Pawshake because we are passionate animal lovers, and would love to meet new furry friends, I see this more as something I love doing than a job.

I work from home so I can attend to your dog whenever they need, and can adjust my schedule to fit their needs. I prefer to book 1 dog at a time so I can ensure that my time and quality of care is up to the highest standards. Since my current dog is a blind senior rescue that only wants to go outside for bathroom breaks, taking care of other dogs that require walks and play time is a wonderful distraction for me when I need a break from my laptop. It's a win-win!

My husband, Andreas works at a tech startup and usually is in the office. But on the weekends, we are happy to schedule a nice play day for your dog, whether they like to go to their favorite dog parks, long walks, or just chill and cuddle in the house, we are happy to provide what your dog loves. We understand all dogs have different personalities and needs, so we are happy to follow your instructions and schedule to make your pup feel as comfortable as possible. We love seeing dogs happy and have an enriching day of new smells, sights, and atmosphere, we see them as furry children. We hope we can make your dog's staycation a special and memorable retreat!

❤️About Me

I currently am a business owner in the skincare industry. My previous job in LA was at a pet startup company where I worked closely with dog trainers, shelters and other pet companies. I also volunteered at animal shelters during my free time. Through this experience I’ve learned how to give dogs basic training and understand how to read their body language. It’s important for me to know how they’re feeling so I can make them as comfortable as possible while they are in a new environment. 

🏡 About our Home

We live close by Het Schepvaartmuseum in an apartment on the ground floor. There are large windows for your dog to look outside and sunbathe. We are very proud that we have a special backyard courtyard that looks like a secret garden (please see photos). This area is very quiet and dogs can be off leash. We love seeing dogs happily running and playing in our back courtyard that is very private and where dogs can run freely. 

We rescued a blind senior dog named Moochie. She is a very gentle and sweet dog that resembles more like a cat, where she just likes to sleep and not have a very active lifestyle. She is fine with other dogs as long as they respect her space since she is blind. 

☀️🌷What a Day Looks Like

I work from home and can take many cuddle and play session breaks. I can also walk your dog based on the schedule you provide. If the weather is nice and when Andreas is off work, we can walk to the Marine Terrain where there is an off leash area to play with your dog. During the weekends, we can take your pup to a dog park or go on adventures in Amsterdam, of course it depends on your dog's nature and what you would prefer.

Does your dog need special enrichment like sniff puzzle games, lick mat or just relax and sunbathe? We are happy to accommodate this.

Does your dog need some basic training help? Or needs a bath? Needs to take medication? Feel free to let me know if you have any asks. Since I have a pekingese mix that has a crazy undercoat, I’ve learned how to groom her myself and am happy to give your dog a bath if they need it.
