about me
My name is Melanie, I‘m 23 and live with my boyfriend in Amsterdam West 🏡. I speak 3 languages fluently and those would be: Dutch, English and Spanish. As you can see on my profile I am a big dog fan but I would never exclude kitties as well!

I have sitted dogs before from family and friends and I always make sure that they have a great time, that they go often enough to the park and that they are well fed. I love animals and they seem to know it right away. They seem to feel relaxed and comfortable when in my care, making this the perfect job for me. I know how to approach them in a way that is non-threatening to reduce their anxiety, if they have it, and to help them relax.

experience
I grew up with dogs and lots of different animals back in Colombia. When I moved to the Netherlands I couldn’t stand not having pets around, which is why I decided to start pet sitting. I have since taken care of many sweet dogs that are all still very dear to me including our family dogs which still live with my mom in Amstelveen since I moved out to a bigger place with my boyfriend.

my place
We live in West near Rembrandtpark. Pick up/ drop off of pets is often possible, depending on your location. We have a lovely, cozy house with a backyard. We have two rooms where your pet is allowed to roam around as they please. They are allowed on the furniture (sofa, bed, etc) if you allow it at home. Please note that we can only take in dogs that are house-trained. Our place is just a few minutes walking distance Rembrandtpark, which is perfect for long walks and adventures. We also love to explore other parks and neighborhoods and take trips to the the beach.

routine
My boyfriend and I have a bar and my boyfriend works during the day and I work during the night. I usually go to the bar around 5:30 PM from Monday till Saturday and always take the dogs with me (dog boarding) and they are allowed to walk off leash or they stay at home with my boyfriend during the evening :) Furthermore from morning till 5PM I have a very flexible schedule so if your pet likes to stick to a routine we can make that happen.

requests
When sending your initial request, please include as much information about your pet as possible. Especially for dogs, it is important for me to know if they get along well with other dogs, what kind of routine they are used to with walking and feeding, and, of course, the breed and age.

additional info
If you book a house visit, I will stay 30 - 60 minutes to look after your pet, play and keep them company for a while - could be longer or shorter depending on your pet‘s needs. Dog walks are around 60 minutes (or as desired).

If you have a dog that is well socialized and you'd like for him/her to have a playdate, I can organize for multiple dogs to come together. Also, for longer stays I can have two dogs stay together (if I can be sure they will get along and if you yourself wouldn’t mind that ofcourse) Some wonderful pet friendships can flourish from that!
