Over Evan
Hi! My name is Evan and I am an experienced former animal shelter worker from the US. My shelter job naturally led to my fostering many shelter animals and petsitting those kiddos who were adopted out into the community. I had a special bond with the most passed-over animals. Whenever the shelter would receive particularly ugly or mean dogs, they would be called “Evan dogs”—because everyone knew they were always my favorite!
At the shelter, I learned a lot about animal behavior, training, enrichment, and medical care. I was trained in Fear-Free™ animal handling techniques which I used when doing bloodwork, vaccinations, microchipping, surgical aftercare, or administering pills or injections. My job also involved daily walks amounting to 20 km, taking dogs on mountain hikes or into town to socialize with strangers and other animals. The best part of the job was always adopting out a long-term resident dog or cat! In several instances, I kept in contact with the adopting family and was asked to petsit for them, especially in cases of anxious or behaviorally maladjusted animals.
I am equally experienced with cats and dogs. After focusing on my studies these past few years, I’m eager to have some furry friends back in my life! With my ample professional experience backing me up, I aim to be a casual, friendly, and reliable walker or sitter.
