I hope this message finds you well.
Who am I: My name is Kshitij, 36 years old (as of March 2023). We are a family of four ( Artie - my wife, Riaad - our baby boy and Bubble - 3 yrs old rescue bitch. Breed - we don't care) living in Maassluis, close to Hoek van Holland with off leash dog walking areas and ample greenery around. Beach - 15 mins away by car. I am a full time business consultant working completely from home and Artie is HR business partner working hybridly (home and office). I come from India and its been 10 years since I am living and working in Netherlands. Artie is NL born and brought up. We live in a house with a big partially fenced backyard (will be fully fenced soon) and has ample space for dogs to play, chill out, chase birds and cats and enjoy life happening by. Bubble is black and beige shepherd mix medium sized dog in the photo gallery.She is spayed.
Why are we doing Pawshake:
It goes without saying that we love dogs. The trigger to start our own Pawshake happened when we suffered through terrible experiences searching sitters for Bubble while we want to be away and travel. Let's just say the reality didn't meet the brochure.
We DON'T vouch that we are THE BEST or paint the horizon pink but we assure you that your dog will enjoy the best care that we can provide and reality will always meet the expectations we together set with you.
Bubble doesn't have a companion and it breaks our heart to see her sad without a friend. This would give an opportunity for her to make friends and enjoy life a little more.
Background in dog care:
For as long as I have a recollection of my memory I have had dogs in my life - since the age of 8. Breeds such as Shepherds, Retrievers, Spitz, Pomeranians or mixed/ crossbreeds etc. I have volunteered in dog shelters and have cared for dogs for a very long period of time. Those photographs are not available in photo gallery because in those times digital cameras or smart phones didn't exist OR atleast were out of my afforability.
We adopted Bubble in 2020 from Italy and it has been nothing short of a pleasureable and a steep learning journey since we had her. In my opinion caring for a dog is same as any relationship in life. Patience and mutual respect are the key elements. And that's what we believe in. Before adopting Bubble we consulted a lot of trainers, educated ourselves and tried our best to understand dogs. The learning process still continues.
Offering:
We offer to share our learnings, experience, home and best possible care for your dog should you place your trust in us. As a dog parent ourselves it is safe to say that we understand how nerve wrecking and stressful it can be to place your dog at a new place.
I only take one dog at a time.
We assure you that your pet will be in safe hands and communicate with you frequently and provide regular updates.
Bubble is allowed on the couch and on bed as well and your pet would also be. However your rules, medication, routine, scheme, directions and guidelines for your pet will be duly respected.
Procedure for taking a dog in (longer than 2 nights) :
Before we take your dog in it is very much important to see if your pet and Bubble (our pet) go well together. Bubble is very docile and playful but has never lived with other dogs in her home environment. These steps will help us manage expectations and avoid surprises in future which could lead to unpleasant experiences. So generally this steps are what we follow (together we can discuss and tailor them for your dog, if needed) -
Have a meet and greet planned outside my home in a neutral environment (ex- a park). Let the dogs meet and see how they interact.
Then we would like to introduce your dog to our home, walk him/her around in the graden (on leash first).
Then take the dogs in and see how they click.
Based on the outcome of the steps above we decide on following -
Have your dog at our home for a day (or overnight, your preference) and I will administer the dogs all the time. at the time you pick your dog we together debrief the day. Standard rates will apply for this trial day - to be taken borne by pet owner.
If everything goes fine, we then start our agreement. This may seem like a lot but from experience we have learnt it's a better way to start. If the dogs are okay with each other and your pet is child friendly, all of this can be done within an hour or so. If your pet isn't child friendly OR the dogs do weird - we won't go ahead with it.
Services: We only offer dog boarding at our home. As we are full time employed, so other services like dog walking, home visits etc. are not possible for us.

Kshitij is a very conscientious and dedicated sitter, with a great process for putting our pets and us at ease. Upon meeting him in person we very quickly felt how comfortable and confident he was with our dog, which made us feel comfortable and confident leaving her with him. You can really tell the whole family loves dogs.

Having worked in dog shelters I have had a chance to come across dogs with different personalities. Some needed to be in their own personal space while some had to be commanded and controlled a bit.
I have not dealt with dogs with behavioral issues and hence refrain from taking such dogs in. My skill is not up to that level yet.
My personal pet Bubble is a rescue and indeed I have trained her basic commands so much so that she doesn't land herself in trouble and follows my lead.
