My name is Emre. I'm an 19-year-old student currently studying at Maastricht University - Science Programme.

I’m living in a small studio within a huge Student Housing Building. I have always been interested in and loved animals my entire life. However, since there are no stray animals out in the Maastricht streets (as there were in Istanbul), I can't interact with animals here. Taking care of animals and interacting with them makes me feel much better, so I thought being a “pet sitter” would be a great solution for me for spending some time with them.

Regarding my previous experience with pets, 12 years ago, I looked after a stray cat whose leg was broken and that was the first cat I owned. After that I kept taking care of stray cats and their numbers increased over time. I used to look after 15 stray cats back at my house in my garden until I moved here. Sometimes baby birds would fall down in our garden and since I had many cats around, I fed and raised them in a secure place until they could fly. Once, I even took care of a hedgehog whose leg was broken. There were stray dogs living around my house and I usually walked around and fed them too. I also took care of any sick animal whenever I saw one until they got better.

I also started scuba diving 4 years ago since underwater animals are really interesting and I wanted to examine them too.

My schedule is pretty flexibe, I usually have one or two classes a day so I am almost always available. I can take your pet(s) for a walk for an hour each. I can also make visits for about an hour each or stay at your house to look after your pet(s).

I was an intern at a veterinary clinic for 3 months and have an enrolment at a veterinary medicine faculty back at my country which I will study after I finish my education here. So, I also have experience on medically taking care of animals, most specifically cats. I also worked as a volunteer worker at the Daalhoeve Farm here in Maastricht where I took care of many different kinds of animals.
