Hi everyone, I'm Yente. A 25 year old student living in Rotterdam. I absolutely love animals. Unfortunately I am away too much to keep an animal at home, and the apartment does not have the space one would like to give a dog or a cat. So I heard from a friend that she uses pawshake to dogsit, and that sounded so good that I am now making my own profile. Of course people on pawshake like pets, that is why we all are here. That's why I'll tell a bit more about the rest. I decided to join this platform because I often find myself with some spare time during the day/weekend. When my friend told me about this platform, it made so much sense to try it out. It's a great way to socialize and walk around with animals, taking care of their needs and bond with them. Whilst helping the owners out. Whether it is for a walk, some extra attention or a house sit.
I do value a good click with people, I would always want to get to know each other a bit before we really start working together. I speak fluent Dutch, a fair amount of English and I am learning Danish (since my partner is Danish). We moved in together last year, and by showing him Rotterdam I also got to know a lot more about this great city, together with finding some nice routes for dog waks.
I have watched and walked dogs before (labradors, bulterriërs, pugs ect). I have also cat-sitted different cats for 1-2 weeks on end where I stayed at their house during the summer holidays. I am medically trained since I studied midwifery, so eventhough I do not have experience with administering medication to animals, I am sure I am able to once explained! It is my first time being on a platform like this though. And it turns out I don't take pictures of me with animals when I am with them, explaining the limited photo's I have uploaded for now. I am in progress of adding more. If there are any questions whatsoever please reach out :)
What I offer a pet when walking: The distance depends on the preferred walking distance for each specific animal! I enjoy going to parks and especially now during and after the lockdown period it is great to have some exercise. A walk could be anything from 20 minutes to 1,5 hours, it is aways discussable!
What I offer a pet when feeding: of course lots of pets and snuggles and attention. I will refresh water, change the food, and maybe give a treat or two in the process. I really enjoy the company of a pet, I might stay a couple of minutes longer because of goodbyes :)
What I offer for a house visit: Good exercise outside, lots of love and attention, but also some space if the animal shows a need for it. I will always find something to do. The house visits also very much depend on what your preferences are, my schedule is quite flexible since I study and work from home. I can stay an hour or an entire day, I am sure we can make an agreement.
About my rates: I roughly ask for €10 an hour. In the case of some travel time, the short distances (within 15 minutes) I am happy to cover myself. When the distance is further, I will mostly travel by public transport. It would be great if that could then be covered, to make it worthwhile for the both of us. Everything will be discussed beforehand of course, so we all know what to expect! If you want to find out the travel time, I live right next to the Wilhelminaplein metro station.
My partner (Danish, Dutch speaking, 26y/o and working in finance) also is a big animal fan, and would love to join a walk or a visit when it fits in his work schedule (I will always let you know if this is the case). A picture of him is uploaded as well. Ofcourse you can also meet him. It is up to you whether you would like two pet sitters for the price of one, or would have a preference for one pawshaker at a time. I also added some pictures of our apartment, so that when we start doggy boarding you can see where your pet will stay (pawshake rules). It is not a very big apartment, but that also means we always have eyes on the pet :)
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me. I will respond as fast as I can 🤗
Yente was super met mijn kat Mona. Erg enthousiast en er was meteen een goede klik na het eerste gesprek via FaceTime.
Niks op aan te merken en ik zou Yente zeker nog eens vragen :)
I own a CPR certificate (adults and children), but not one specifically for animals. A background check is something that I have done 4 years ago when I worked as a nurse to draw blood in the hospital during summer, I believe that is my most recent one. If there is the need to see a more recent one, let me know. I currently study health sciences and will start a research master program starting summer 2021, since I have a background in midwifery I would love to continue doing research in the field.
