I truly love cats. Always have. Even though I work in tech, spending time with animals brings me the kind of joy and calm that nothing else does. I started pet sitting in 2018, and since then I’ve cared for many cats: from majestic Maine Coons, Chausies and other large breeds to mixed-breed cats, and shy rescues. Friends kept recommending me to others, and it naturally grew into something more. Over the years, I’ve worked with cats across different regions of the Netherlands and in several EU countries, adapting to many types of homes, temperaments, and routines.

I’m based in Zwolle, but for pet sitting bookings of two days or longer, I’m available to travel to other cities and regions within the Netherlands, and sometimes to other EU countries.

I only work with cats in their own homes. Unlike dogs, cats are extremely sensitive to change. Every move or unfamiliar space can be a major source of stress, even for a short stay. That’s why I believe it’s best for them to stay in their familiar environment, surrounded by their own scents, routines, and safe spots. I never force interaction. I give cats the time and space they need to come to me. I follow their daily rhythm closely: from feeding and playtime to medication schedules, and I pay close attention to their body language.

I’m experienced in giving medications gently, without stress. No force, no pills shoved into the throat. I usually mix them with familiar treats or use other calm and respectful techniques that work for the individual cat. Comfort and trust always come first.

I love creating gentle rituals, watching Cat TV together, and coming up with enriching games that support mental stimulation. If a cat shows interest, I introduce light training through positive reinforcement and clicker techniques, but I never force it. It’s always a fun, rewarding activity that feels like a game, not a task. Some cats love learning new things like giving a paw, walking figure-eights, or jumping on command. The goal is never obedience, but joyful interaction that keeps their minds sharp and spirits up.

I’ve completed courses in Animal Psychology and Pathophysiology of Domestic Animals, with a focus on observing behavior and detecting stress or health issues early. I also have experience with senior cats and those with anxiety, including my own.

I only work with vaccinated cats, specifically vaccinated against neusziekte (cat flu) and rabies. This is for the safety of your own pet as well as mine. I do not host animals at my place. I offer short daytime visits while you're at work. I’m a quiet guest, respectful of your space, and I never bring anyone with me & sending you photo & video reports frequently. I never leave pets alone for more than 3 hours, and I’m happy to care for your plants too, if needed.

One of the most special bonds I’ve had was with Tima, a 17-year-old senior cat I cared for regularly over the course of several years. Wise, dignified, and full of quiet presence, he left a lasting impression not only on me, but on everyone who knew him. His story has been mentioned in multiple books, and most recently, an Amsterdam-based writer dedicated an entire book just to him. A true feline legend.
