Hey there!

My name is Jan Philipp, I am 21 and I study International Business here at the Rug. I am from Bremen, Germany and I have a Weimaraner at home, that I take care of on the weekends. Since I know how hard it can be to find a person that can treats your dog right, especially if it is not a boring dog, that just needs to be walked around the corner. My dog is called Bartolo and he is a hunting dog and goes out for 3 hours a day. During the walks, I don't only throw a ball for him, but give him demanding exercises like searching two dummie simultaneously or retrieval work. We have even done Maintrailing and he loved it, but his sense for keeping the pack together became too strong. I think it is very important for dogs to have mental exercise next to the normal physical exercise. I would like to encourage dog contact, so that teh socialisation aspect does not come short either. And of course a little after-walk treat and cuddle-session.

I myself am very sporty, I play handball and football regularly, as well as many other sports, that you are only able to perform rarely, such as skiing and kitesurfing. Bartolo has actually been my first dog and we only had cats before. I went to the US as an exchange student during high school and my host family had two Aussies, that I regularly walked as well, simply because I appreciate the time outside and the fun with the dogs myself as well. Additionally, we had a cat, which honestly was crazy. Now, I go home to Germany on the weekends a lot, actually to take care of my dog.

I like to work with dogs! I do not like untrained and badly behaving dogs, regardless of their size. I do understand, however, when you have problems with the education and I am honestly happy to help you as well! I will always practice basic behaviour when being in contact with your dog, which is mainly being consequent in my opinion. I think a good behaviors is essential for having as much fun as possible, as I also need to know and trust my dog e.g. when I let him off the leash in the park. I am not afraid of any dogs and I am happy to help you in every situation, feel free to contact me. As Bartolo is not neutered, so I am also familiar with rivalary dog situations. :)

I live in a shared apartment with two other Dutch students. Your dog would be allowed to be in the corridor, the kitchen and my room. At night, I would like to put one of your blankets in my room, so we knows the smell and can feel comfortable. We don't have a backyard, so your pet will not be able to be outside here, besides the times I go on walks with him/her. I live very close to the Noorderplantsoen, so I would love to explore it even more with your pet together and met some (new) friends for him there. I am used to walking the dog for a good hour, sometimes a bit more if we meet buddies to play with. With your dog, however, you can decide how long the walks should be. As I am a student, I have less than 10 hours of mandatory attendence per week at the university and need to do a lot of self-study. Therefore, I am very flexible regarding the times I could walk your dog. Even if I have a study period, I break at the fresh air is always relaxing.

I would always suggest that we set up a meeting and I come swing by your house sometime. You can tell me a bit your dog and what you would like me to do with him and maybe we can go for a walk together, of course free of charge!
