Hi, Jerry here, nice to meet you.I have had dogs and cats since I was 7, so I consider them brothers and sisters really, while at all times remembering they are a different species. If you live with a cat, I will be happy to do home visits and spend some time with them. I am also slowly embracing a career as a dog trainer and what I am learning is that training dogs, is, actually training humans to better understand the language that our companions adress us with. For example, a dog pulling on the leash is a dog that has not been shown that he is safe with us, that we will take the right decisions for her safety; hence her lunging ahead believing she needs to protect us all (it's impossible in one sentence to line up all reasons why and how dogs pull of course, so take it for the example it is meant to be please...:-) ). So if you are having some difficulties in the relationship with your doggie, please ask me. That helps me grow as a trainer and, hopefully, I will have an answer to make your relationship an easier one.
Back to me:
I am an author of self-help books, counselor helping people overcome stress, overworked brain activity, ailing relationships, burn-outs, etc... Last but not least, I work from home, so your companion will have company most of the time.
I am offering myself to look after your canine friend in the best way I can, which means they will get spoiled, with lots of walks (short or long, whatever your friend can handle. There is a lovely canal area around here as well as lots of parks) and a very comfortable pillow to rest on. I have a vet within walking distance ( some 500 m/yards) in case of need. I worked with her years ago when my doggie was still alive and I really liked her, for both her humanity and care for animals.
Before going on, a few IMPORTANT points, please read them in your own interrest also. Thank you:
I take puppies out for walks, I'll be happy to help you with that. As much as I love the little ones, I don't have the time right now to take them into my house, as puppies need and deserve a lot of attention, so, please, only doggies from 1 year for daycare or overnight stays. While I really regret this, I hope you can understand.
IMPORTANT 2) Bookings are for a 24 hr period. E.g. If you bring your friend at 3 in the afternoon for one night, the booking is until 3 of the following day. Depending on my time, I might be able to accommodate a later pick up. If it is substantially later, we should agree on either a "day rate" or an "extra overnight".
IMPORTANT 3) Please be aware that we live on the 1st floor and that for bigger, elderly dogs (small ones I can pick up) with joint pain the 100-year-old traditional Dutch narrow-step stairs might be a bit tricky.
I hope you can understand the previous points and thanks for, well, your understanding...:-)
Feel free to ask me anything! I look forward to meeting your friend(s) and you of course. Hugs and paws to all! Jerry
It has been lovely having Jerry as a sitter for our dog. Warm and trustworthy, going the extra mile to take care and even take time to train our dog. Very passionate about what he does and about looking for the best for our puppy. Would definitely recommend him as a sitter! Thanks a lot Jerry!
Jerry was taking great care of our golden retriever, Carlos. We hope to meet him again!
